As the Chicago Red Stars prepare for the second half of the season, General Manager Richard Feuz reflects on his first six months at the club. From restructuring the team to integrating new players, Feuz discusses his vision, progress made, and goals for the coming months.
Feuz describes his project as a "renaissance" for the club. "I’ve always said, any sports project that needs to be rebuilt almost from scratch will take at least 1000 days to be fully rebuilt, restructured, reinforced, developed and grow," he states. He emphasizes that this term represents a renewal inspired by past performances and challenges.
Regarding the team's performance in the first half of the season, Feuz notes their hard work and exceptional team spirit. "It’s important to stay humble and keep working hard," he says. He highlights significant progress in defensive consistency as a solid foundation for future development.
Feuz also discusses strategic choices made during the draft and early in the season by focusing on young players. "We firmly believe in their potential and development," he asserts. He expresses confidence in their continued progress.
The addition of Julia Grosso and Ludmila during the summer window was another key move. Feuz believes they will bring unique qualities to complement the roster. "We are thrilled to have them," he says.
Addressing Sam Staab's injury, Feuz acknowledges it as a tough blow but remains confident in maintaining defensive stability with the current roster.
Feuz has implemented a circular organization with players at its center. This structure ensures alignment across management and technical staff towards supporting player development.
Looking ahead, Feuz outlines plans for entering the reconstruction phase after completing restructuring. This phase involves solidifying foundations and making necessary adjustments to ensure sustainability.
Player care is another critical aspect for Feuz. "Good player care means trying to create the best possible conditions for them to adapt to their environment," he explains.
To ensure long-term growth, Feuz has defined five essential pillars: team spirit, stability, organization/processes, a safe environment, and culture. These pillars form a framework conducive to excellence.
In his message to fans and partners of Chicago Red Stars, Feuz expresses gratitude for their support. He commits to transparency about development while aiming for victories that lead into playoffs.
"We’re committed to doing everything we can to ensure that this team is in the best possible position to succeed," concludes Feuz confidently about a bright future for Chicago Red Stars.
