Chicago Fire FC set to face New York City FC tonight

Chicago resumes MLS regular season play tonight in New York City, seeking its first road victory against New York City FC. The match begins at 6:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass and locally on wlsam.com (English) and WRTO 1200 AM (Spanish).

Head Coach Frank Klopas leads the team with forward Hugo Cuypers and winger Maren Haile-Selassie, both contributing 11 goals each this season. Chicago last played in the regular season on July 20 against Inter Miami CF.

New York recently participated in Leagues Cup 2024, drawing 1-1 with Columbus Crew on August 17 in the quarterfinals before losing the penalty shootout 4-3.

Frank Klopas has made two changes to the lineup from the match against Inter Miami CF. Gastón Giménez makes his 11th start of the season and seventh consecutive appearance as captain. Chris Brady starts for the 25th time this season, ranking sixth in MLS with 86 saves.

Hugo Cuypers remains a consistent starter with nine goals and two assists across all matches this season. Maren Haile-Selassie also continues his streak of starting appearances, matching Cuypers' goal contributions. Brian Gutiérrez starts his 21st regular-season match, while Kellyn Acosta makes his 22nd start of the season.

Rafael Czichos maintains his position after scoring against Inter Miami CF, alongside Allan Arigoni who starts for the 23rd time this season. Arnaud Souquet also retains his spot for a ninth consecutive match. Carlos Terán returns to action following an injury sustained on June 29, and Andrew Gutman reenters the lineup for the first time since May.

Unavailable players include Chase Gasper (leg), Fabian Herbers (leg), and Ariel Lassiter (yellow card accumulation). Bench options for Coach Klopas include Spencer Richey, Jonathan Dean, Justin Reynolds, Tobias Salquist, Mauricio Pineda, Chris Mueller, Federico Navarro, Tom Barlow, and Georgios Koutsias.
