Chicago Red Stars forward Jameese Joseph has earned her first career National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Goal of the Week award, the league announced today.

In the 59th minute of the match between the Red Stars and Racing Louisville FC, Chicago was attempting to recover from a 1-0 deficit incurred in the first half. Defender Natalia Kuikka initiated a long pass to Penelope Hocking, who controlled it with her chest and dropped it to her right foot. After assessing her options, Hocking passed to Joseph on the right side of the pitch. Joseph advanced towards her defender, maneuvering into an apparently impossible position within the 18-yard box with tight defensive coverage and the goalkeeper guarding the near post. Despite these challenges, Joseph managed to find space in the upper corner of the net, scoring her second goal of the season.

Although this was both Joseph's and Chicago's only goal in that match, she emerged as their most threatening attacker. She led all Red Stars players with four shots at goal and tied for most shots in the match alongside Louisville’s Ary Borges.

This marks Joseph’s second goal this season; her first came against San Diego Wave FC where she also recorded an assist, helping secure three points for Chicago on that occasion.

Joseph and her team are set to play against Angel City FC on Sunday, September 1 at 3:00 p.m. CT before returning home for their Welcome Home Match presented by United Airlines on September 8 at 5:00 p.m. CT. The Red Stars will honor their four Olympians prior to their game against Marta and Orlando Pride. Further details about tickets and remaining matches can be found at chicagoredstars.com/tickets.
