FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments in 2024 on September 26th.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability, we at DeKalb Times have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Dekalb County. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, and it specifically asked for a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1st, 2024 till September 26th, 2024.
The information requested includes specific fields such as the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount paid. This data is crucial for us at DeKalb Times as we strive to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
