The Hon. Charles Beach has been elected as the new Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Beach won the election with 144 votes against 109, with one ballot deemed spoiled. The voting took place at the Richard J. Daley Center's Jury Assembly Room.

The election was confirmed by the Hon. Shelley Sutker-Dermer, who is both the chair of the Judicial Election Committee and presiding judge of the Second Municipal District. Beach, currently serving in the Law Division, defeated Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans, who was aiming for a ninth term, and Hon. Nichole C. Patton from the same division.
