Chicago Fire FC II's captain, David Poreba, has been awarded the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot after scoring 18 goals this season. His performance helped lead his team to the playoffs with a recent victory over Philadelphia Union II.

Poreba contributed significantly to his team's success, tallying two assists in addition to his league-leading goal count. He participated in all 28 matches for Fire II and was called up multiple times to play for Chicago Fire during the regular season and Leagues Cup.

Initially joining Chicago Fire II on loan from Polish club Stal Mielec in January, Poreba had previously played for Crown Legacy throughout most of 2023. His career began in Chicago as part of the Chicago Fire Academy before moving on to Chicago FC United Academy and eventually joining Stal Mielec's reserve team.

The playoff format allows teams like Chicago Fire FC II, seeded fourth, to choose their opponents based on selections made by higher-seeded teams. The first round is scheduled for October 18-20, with all matches available live via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
