BandWith Chicago, a nonprofit organization focused on youth performing arts and wellness advocacy, is set to establish a $12.3 million permanent headquarters in East Garfield Park. This development comes with financial backing from the City of Chicago, as approved by the City Council.
The organization will benefit from up to $5 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) support. These funds are allocated for the enhancement of a 21,460-square-foot facility located at 134-56 S. California Ave. The upgraded space will accommodate free performing arts programs offered by BandWith Chicago.
Planned improvements include new rehearsal and performance spaces, along with classrooms dedicated to music, dance, drumline, sound engineering, and choral instruction. Additionally, the facility will feature a cafe and a Horizons for Youth educational resource center.
This project is situated just one block away from where BandWith Chicago began its operations in 2013.
