A federal grand jury has indicted three men in Chicago on charges related to carjacking and firearms offenses. The indictment alleges that Marquell Davis, 22, Ramone Bradley, 26, and Edmund Singleton, 34, conspired to steal two vehicles on November 3, 2022. According to the indictment returned in U.S. District Court in Chicago, Davis was armed when he and his accomplices carjacked an Infiniti Q50 at a gas station in the Roseland neighborhood.
Later the same day, Bradley and Davis allegedly attempted another carjacking of a BMW X6 at a gas station in the Douglas neighborhood. During this attempt, Davis reportedly took the driver's car key but failed to steal the vehicle.
All three defendants are currently held by law enforcement. If convicted, Bradley could face up to 30 years in federal prison. Davis and Singleton face mandatory minimum sentences of seven years with a maximum potential sentence of life imprisonment. Their arraignments are set for November 5, 2024, before U.S. District Judge Matthew F. Kennelly.
The announcement of the indictment came from Morris Pasqual, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; Douglas S. DePodesta, Special Agent-in-Charge of the FBI's Chicago Field Office; and Larry Snelling, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Margaret A. Steindorf is representing the government in this case.
Authorities remind the public that an indictment is not proof of guilt; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
