Chicago Fire FC II midfielder David Poreba has been named the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Most Valuable Player, as announced by Chicago Fire FC II and MLS NEXT Pro. The accolade is presented by adidas.

Poreba, 21, achieved this honor in his first season with Chicago Fire FC II. During the same period, he also secured the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot and was included in the league's Best XI. This makes him the first player from Fire II to win multiple yearly awards in MLS NEXT Pro and the first to receive both MVP and Best XI honors since the team's establishment in 2022.

Originating from Lake Zurich, Illinois, Poreba joined Chicago Fire FC II on loan from Polish club Stal Mielec in January. Before returning to Chicago, he played for Crown Legacy for most of 2023, starting 27 out of 29 matches. In his debut full season with Chicago Fire FC II, Poreba scored a league-leading 18 goals, surpassing his previous single-season career-high of six goals.

Throughout his first season with Chicago, Poreba trained regularly with the First Team and participated in four Short-Term Agreements during the MLS regular season and Leagues Cup 2024.

Poreba began his amateur playing career at the Chicago Fire Academy before moving to the Chicago FC United Academy. He later joined Polish side Stal Mielec's reserve team and made two appearances for their first team before being loaned to Crown Legacy FC in December 2022.
