With the majority of polling places reporting, early results from the Chicago School Board races suggest that candidates backed by the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) have not secured a majority. Out of the CTU-supported candidates, only four won seats, with one candidate running unopposed. In contrast, six candidates emerged victorious, three of whom had support from Illinois Policy PAC.

Matt Paprocki, President and CEO of Illinois Policy, commented on the election outcomes: “The Chicago Teachers Unions spent millions of dollars on a campaign to solidify their power over Chicago Public Schools and failed. This failure is a referendum on the CTU and Mayor Brandon Johnson’s radical agenda.”

Paprocki further addressed concerns regarding future union contracts: “CTU leadership continues to demand the most extreme government union contract in the country, which would remove school choice and cost taxpayers billions of dollars, inevitably leading to tax hikes. Voters said no. Now aldermen must heed the will of the people and protect them from tax hikes and other policies that would harm our economy.”
