The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has provided an update on the pavement patching and joint repair work underway on South DuSable Lake Shore Drive, stretching from 31st Street to 57th Drive.
According to CDOT, all southbound lanes will reopen on Saturday, October 7. Starting Monday, October 9, the northbound section between 31st and 57th will be reduced to two lanes. During weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., this will be further reduced to one lane.
The work is expected to last for three weeks. CDOT advises drivers to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, consider alternate routes if possible, and use public transportation when feasible. Drivers are also urged to pay attention to flaggers and construction signage near work zones, obey speed limits, drive cautiously, and remain alert for workers and equipment.
