As part of the Chicago Department of Transportation's (CDOT) ongoing project on the DuSable Lake Shore Drive Bridge and viaduct network, there will be lane closures starting October 9. The upper level of DuSable Lake Shore Drive between Monroe Street and Ontario Street will have one lane closed in both northbound and southbound directions for the duration of the project. Additional lane closures are expected during off-peak hours.
The project involves removing and replacing structural steel hanger assemblies and expansion joints, which are essential for preserving the bridge. This work is anticipated to continue until summer 2024.
Meanwhile, the lower level of DuSable Lake Shore Drive between Randolph Street and Grand Avenue will remain reduced to two lanes in each direction.
