The Hounds have announced the signing of Scottish lock Hamish Bain, continuing their active offseason. Bain, standing at 6'7" and weighing 255 pounds, hails from Edinburgh and played the 2024 season with Vannes in France's Pro D2 league.

Bain began his rugby career in the Scotland Rugby Academy system in 2015 as a Stage 1 player. He progressed to Stage 2 in 2016 and then to Stage 3 the following year. Before the 2017 season, he was assigned to Edinburgh by the Scotland Rugby Academy.

His performances earned him a spot on the Scotland Under-20 team for the World Rugby U20 Championships in 2017. Bain helped lead the team to a fifth-place finish, marking Scotland's highest-ever placement in the tournament.

Following his success at the championship, Bain joined Stade Nicois in Pro D2 through a partnership with Scottish Rugby Union. Over two seasons, he made 37 appearances for Stade Nicois.

Bain returned to Scotland before the 2020 season, signing with Glasgow Warriors. He debuted in week three of the Pro14 season against Ospreys and made seven appearances during that campaign.

In 2022, Bain signed with Jersey Reds, where he contributed to a successful RFU Championship win over Ealing Trailfinders. During his time there, he appeared in 12 games and started four times.

For the 2023/2024 season, Bain returned to France with Vannes. The team finished second on the table with a record of 17-11 and won promotion to Top 14 after playoff victories over Beziers and Grenoble.

Bain is anticipated to bring experience and depth to an already strong forward pack for the Hounds.
