The Illinois Nurses Association (INA) has initiated a strike starting at 7 am on Wednesday, November 13. This action involves registered nurses under the RN Collective Bargaining Agreement.

UI Health acknowledges the vital role nurses play in maintaining clinical excellence and providing safe, high-quality patient care. Despite the staffing interruption, the University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics assures patients that it remains operational and prepared to deliver necessary healthcare services.

To address the staffing challenges, UI Health is implementing several measures:

- Patients may experience rescheduling of appointments or procedures. Those affected will be contacted directly; otherwise, appointments will proceed as planned.

- Transfers from other hospitals are currently being limited.

- Licensed and qualified nurses and healthcare professionals have been recruited from external sources to support ongoing operations.

UI Health emphasizes its dedication to advancing health for all individuals and has established plans to ensure patient care and safety continue without disruption. Additional details regarding the INA strike can be found at UIHealthWorkforce.uic.edu.
