Quigley, who succeeded Rahm Emanuel and previously served on the Cook County Board of Commissioners, is known for his active stance on international and domestic matters.
On November 17, 2024, Quigley expressed his concerns about Russian President Vladimir Putin's ambitions in Eastern Europe. He stated, "Vladimir Putin is a power-hungry dictator who won't give up until he captures Ukraine, the Baltics, and Poland."
The following day, November 18, 2024, Quigley reiterated his call for a strategic policy shift regarding U.S. military support to Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of allowing Ukraine to utilize American missiles against targets within Russia by stating: "In September, I called on the Biden Administration to allow Ukraine to use U.S. missiles to strike inside Russia. This critical policy change can make the difference between winning and losing this war."
Later that same day, Quigley addressed domestic gun control issues by advocating for legislation aimed at banning assault weapons. He declared his support for such measures with the statement: "Assault weapons have cost countless lives. I'm proud to cosponsor legislation to ban them. Let's pass it now."
