A mass shooting in Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood on Monday that left three people dead and five others injured may have been linked to an illegal alien who was targeted, according to a report by the Chicago Contrarian.

“We're told from a reliable source the target of the mass shooting today was an illegal — a renown DJ from Venezuela — staying in Section 8,”  Chicago Contrarian said on X. “A party was held at the house, the shooter was looking to settle a score with the DJ, and he blasted away at everybody in the house.”

The shooting occurred during a house party at 3511 W. 59th St. between St. Louis and Central Park avenues in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, according to CBS 2.

Authorities said they were familiar with the house, which had previously hosted parties, though it remains unclear if the victims were residents of the home.

The shooter allegedly had a personal vendetta against the DJ and, in the process of targeting him, opened fire on several people at the gathering.

“UPDATE ALLEGEDLY that the DJ at the Chicago Westlawn 8th district party murdered someone in VENEZUELA, which led to this act of retaliation in Chicago!” activist Terry Newsome said on X.

The shooting occurred around 2:10 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, when Chicago police received calls about multiple people being shot at the home.

Officers arrived at the scene to find eight people wounded by gunfire, including four men and four women, all Hispanic and between the ages of 20 and 35.

Police Chief of Patrol Jon Hein confirmed that two of the men died at the scene and that another man died at the hospital.

At a press conference held on the matter, Hein was asked by a reporter is those involved in the shooting were "recently arrived migrants."

"It's early an investigation and their immigration status to me really is relevant at this time," Hein said.

In a statement released after the incident, Mayor Brandon Johnson expressed his condolences to the victims and their families.

“On behalf of the entire city, I want to extend my condolences to everyone impacted by the mass shooting that took place in Gage Park. We as a city are praying and grieving for all the victims, survivors, and their families. There is no place in our city for senseless acts of violence,” Johnson wrote on X.

Johnson recently said that he would defy president-elect Donald Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, who promised to increase Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in sanctuary cities.

In comments made after the presidential election, Johnson reiterated that Chicago would continue its sanctuary city status and would not cooperate with ICE to remove undocumented migrants, regardless of the political climate.
