Mike Quigley, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 5th district since 2009, has shared his views on various global and national issues through a series of tweets. Quigley, who succeeded Rahm Emanuel in Congress, has consistently voiced his commitment to democracy and human rights.

On December 3, 2024, Quigley addressed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of unity among democratic nations, stating: "The war in Ukraine has persisted for nearly three years. Now more than ever, democratic nations must unite in steadfast support for Ukraine until Putin's aggression is brought to an end."

The following day, December 4, he reiterated his dedication to protecting democracy within the United States with the statement: "Democracy is America's sacred cause. We must protect it from those who seek to threaten it."

Later that same day, Quigley highlighted Universal Human Rights Month by encouraging recognition of fundamental human values: "December is Universal Human Rights Month! Let's honor the dignity, freedom, and equality that every person deserves."
