Mike Quigley, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 5th district since 2009, has taken to social media to mark significant anniversaries and express his views on current political matters. His comments reflect his continued engagement with legislative and environmental issues.

On December 13, 2024, Quigley acknowledged the second anniversary of the Respect for Marriage Act's enactment. He stated, "Today marks the second anniversary of the Respect for Marriage Act being signed into law. This law enshrined justice, dignity and respect for all Americans regardless of who you love."

Later that day, he elaborated on this legislation's significance by recalling its signing date. He noted his participation in its passage: "On December 13, 2022, @POTUS signed the #RespectForMarriageAct into law. I'm proud to have voted for this bill. Now, federal law includes critical protections for same-sex & interracial couples."

In another tweet posted on the same day, Quigley reflected on international climate efforts by marking the ninth anniversary of the Paris Climate Accords. Criticizing past actions of former President Trump and expressing concern over future policies, he wrote: "Nine years ago today the world came together to sign the groundbreaking Paris Climate Accords. Trump's withdrawal from that agreement was a disaster and his incoming administration has even more anti-planet plans. Will you stand with me against their pro-disaster agenda?"
