More than 100,000 visitors have experienced the holiday displays at Millennium Park in Chicago. The centerpiece of the event, the Chicago Christmas Tree, is adorned with 70,000 LED lights and will be lit until January 8.
"The holiday season at Millennium Park is a true celebration of tradition, community and joy. It's heartwarming to see so many people from near and far coming together to create lasting memories and share in the magic of this special time of year,” stated DCASE Commissioner Clinée Hedspeth.
The McCormick Tribune Ice Rink, presented by Discover Financial Services, offers free admission for skating sessions requiring reservations. "Discover believes creating memorable moments should be especially for everyone," said Jennifer Murillo, Chief Marketing Officer at Discover.
Ice-skating lessons are available on weekends through support from the McDonald's Active Lifestyles Endowment and the Chicago Youth Foundation. The Millennium Park Holiday Sing-Along takes place on Fridays until December 20.
Additional festivities include an Open House at the Chicago Cultural Center on December 21. These events are organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events with support from various sponsors.
