State Representative Brad Stephens has been appointed as Assistant House Minority Leader for the 104th General Assembly. The appointment was made by House Republican Leader Tony McCombie. Stephens, who represents the 20th House District, was elected to his third full term in November.

The district includes parts of Chicago and suburban Cook County. Stephens is noted for his knowledge of issues affecting law enforcement, first responders, and local governments. He is currently the only member of the House Republican Caucus representing Chicago and one of three from Cook County.

Stephens expressed his commitment to working within the Republican caucus to address economic growth, job creation, property taxes, and support for law enforcement. "I am truly honored to again be asked to serve as Assistant House Republican Leader for Leader McCombie," he stated.

Leader McCombie praised Stephens' dedication and expertise: “Leader Stephens works tirelessly for his communities and brings extensive knowledge to our caucus from his work at the state and local level.”

Stephens also emphasized his focus on serving the 20th District: “With the last General Assembly finally behind us, there is much work to do for the hardworking people of the 20th District."
