On January 21, 2025, Schakowsky expressed concern over Elon Musk's actions in a tweet: "Elon Musk knows exactly what he’s doing. We cannot normalize and embolden this extremist behavior because we all know where it leads."
Later that day, she participated in Interfaith Action of Evanston's annual event, sharing her experience on Twitter: "On the MLK Day of Service, it was great to join Interfaith Action of Evanston's 6th Annual Walk for Warmth. Not only does this event bring together Evanstonians of all ages and backgrounds, but it also supports community members struggling with homelessness and hunger."
Schakowsky also joined families at the Skokie Library to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy through service: "Then, I had the privilege of joining families at the @skokielibrary who spent their day giving back in honor of Dr. King. This blanket is one of many that will be going to @connect2home. I really enjoyed talking with so many young people who are looking to make a difference."
