Timothy Evans, Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, said there will be a protest this weekend titled "No Kings," which is expected to draw approximately 10,000 participants. The event is scheduled for June 14, 2025, at the Daley Center in Chicago and has led to the cancellation of marriage services.

According to a memorandum from Evans, the protest will commence at 10 a.m. in front of the Daley Center. In anticipation of potential disruptions due to the large turnout, all marriage ceremonies planned at the Cook County Building over that weekend have been canceled and will be rescheduled.

Evans also said that he closed the courthouse at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday following disruptions caused by "pop-up" pro-illegal alien protests affecting courthouse proceedings.

Local authorities are preparing for the protest by coordinating efforts across multiple departments. The Cook County Sheriff's Office's Intel Unit is monitoring for any signs of disruptions or incidents near the Daley Center and other court locations. Emergency planning is being supported by several agencies including the Cook County Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security (EMRS), the Chicago Office of Emergency Management, and the Chicago Police Department.

A nationwide wave of anti-ICE protests has reached Chicago, with thousands marching through areas such as the Loop and Daley Plaza. Participants have been chanting "ICE out of Chicago" and blocking downtown streets, according to Fox 32 Chicago. There have been confrontations with police involving vandalism to squad cars and an incident where a vehicle drove through a crowd.

Evans oversees nearly 400 judges and manages a $240 million budget in one of the largest unified court systems globally, serving over 5 million residents.
