Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez, representing Illinois' 3rd district, recently addressed several issues through a series of tweets. Ramirez has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2023 after succeeding Marie Newman and previously served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2018 to 2022.
On January 23, 2025, Congresswoman Ramirez commented on the constitutional rights granted by the 14th Amendment. She stated: "The 14th Amendment is clear: anyone born on US soil is a citizen by birth." She criticized former President Trump's executive order that denies citizenship to certain individuals, labeling it as unconstitutional.
In another tweet dated January 24, 2025, Ramirez announced opportunities for public service within her team. She invited applications for summer internships in her Washington D.C. and District Offices: "Interested in public service? Want to serve the constituents of #IL03?"
Later that day, Ramirez expressed her stance on immigration reform. She emphasized the importance of immigrants within communities and pledged to fight against outdated immigration laws: "Immigrants are our neighbors, friends, co-workers, family. They are not our enemies."
