Jan Schakowsky, a U.S. Congress member representing Illinois' 9th District, shared several updates on January 29, 2025, via social media. Schakowsky has been serving in Congress since 1999 after replacing Sidney R. Yates and is known for her advocacy on various issues.

In her first post of the day, Schakowsky extended greetings for the Lunar New Year. She expressed wishes for "good fortune, wisdom, and elegance" in the Year of the Snake and highlighted the strength brought by diversity in her district. She thanked Josina Morita for hosting a "vibrant and colorful Lunar New Year celebration." "Happy Lunar New Year! May the Year of the Snake bring us all good fortune, wisdom, and elegance." (January 29, 2025).

Later that day, Schakowsky addressed political matters concerning efforts to protect life-saving programs from cuts proposed by former President Trump and the GOP. She stated that while they were successful in blocking these attempts this time, vigilance was necessary as similar efforts could continue. "We were successful this time blocking Trump and the GOP's plot to rip away life-saving programs from our communities." (January 29, 2025).

In another update on January 29th, Schakowsky voiced support for D.C. restaurant workers organizing for better working conditions and union representation at several establishments. She affirmed solidarity with these workers alongside her colleagues from the Labor Caucus. "D.C. restaurant workers are organizing for respect, stability, and a seat at the bargaining table." (January 29, 2025).
