The Chicago Sky will face the Brazil Women’s National Team in a preseason match at Louisiana State University on May 2, as announced by the team. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
This event marks a return for WNBA All-Star Angel Reese to her college roots at LSU, where she played from 2023 to 2024 and led the Tigers to their first NCAA Championship in 2023. Sky center Kamilla Cardoso will compete against her home country's national team for the first time, having represented Brazil in numerous international competitions.
Angel Reese expressed her excitement about returning to Baton Rouge, stating, “It will be amazing to return to Baton Rouge, a community that means so much to me. LSU was instrumental in preparing me for the WNBA and I can’t wait to hit the court in front of both Tigers and Sky fans!”
LSU Women’s Basketball Head Coach Kim Mulkey also shared enthusiasm about hosting the game: “Angel played a major role in establishing our program at LSU and I know our fans are going to be excited to have her back in the PMAC.”
Reese had an outstanding junior season, being named Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament and earning several accolades such as SEC Player of the Year (2024) and AP All-American (2022-24). She led the SEC in scoring and rebounds for two consecutive seasons.
Kamilla Cardoso looks forward to playing against her former national team: “Playing for the Sky against my former team gives me a wonderful opportunity to connect with my roots.” Cardoso was pivotal in Brazil's success at various tournaments including winning gold at the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup.
Brazil's recent performance secured them a spot in the upcoming 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup. This exhibition game will serve as part of their preparation for that competition.
Tickets go on sale February 17 through LSU's ticketing website. The Chicago Sky will begin their regular season on May 17 against Indiana Fever.
