Delia C. Ramirez, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Illinois' 3rd district, has expressed her views on various issues through recent social media posts. These posts address topics ranging from social security to Black history and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
On February 1, 2025, Ramirez marked the anniversary of the first social security check issued in America with a commitment to protect senior citizens' benefits. She stated: "85 years ago, an American received her first social security check. My commitment is simple: Seniors earned their social security and I will protect their benefits." She criticized the Trump administration's approach to these benefits.
Later that day, Ramirez addressed issues related to Black history and community empowerment during Black History Month (#BHM). In her post, she affirmed: "Black history can't and won't be erased. Black joy can't and won't be robbed. Black communities can't and won't be invisibilized." She reiterated her support for a Rainbow Coalition in collaboration with Black communities.
In another post on February 1, 2025, Ramirez responded to the firing of Rohit Chopra from his position at the CFPB by former President Trump. She expressed concern over changes in the bureau's focus: "In firing Rohit Chopra, Trump has made it clear the CFPB will now serve to protect billionaires and businesses." Ramirez acknowledged Chopra's contributions towards reducing fees and protecting borrowers.
