Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, is celebrated today on his birthday. Lincoln, who spent a significant portion of his life in Illinois, had a notable political career before assuming the presidency. He served in the Illinois House of Representatives and was a member of Congress representing Illinois' 7th district.
