Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez, representing Illinois' 3rd district, has expressed concerns over recent legislative developments through a series of tweets. Ramirez, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2023 after replacing Marie Newman, is known for her advocacy on civil rights issues.

On February 13, 2025, Congresswoman Ramirez tweeted: " F*scists expanding the police state and surveillance?" This statement reflects her apprehension about potential expansions in police powers and surveillance measures.

Later that day, she posted another tweet stating: "Another day, another bill to erode our civil rights. A thread on H.R. 35. " This indicates her concern regarding proposed legislation she believes could infringe upon civil liberties.

In a subsequent tweet at the same time, she elaborated on specific implications of the bill: "3) What's worse is that it's possible that someone isn't even aware that Border Patrol or a deputized agent is pursuing them. What if you were being followed by an unmarked car with no lights flashing? If you failed to stop you could be charged under this law." Here, Ramirez highlights potential risks associated with law enforcement practices under the proposed legislation.
