Starting March 5, the Art Institute of Chicago will extend its operating days to include Wednesdays, offering public access six days a week. This expansion aims to provide greater availability for visitors to explore the museum's extensive collection and exhibitions.

James Rondeau, President and Eloise W. Martin Director of the Art Institute of Chicago, expressed enthusiasm about the change: “The Art Institute is proud to be part of the thriving cultural community in downtown Chicago,” he stated. “Our updated schedule demonstrates the museum’s commitment to making our iconic collection more accessible to the city’s residents and visitors from around the world.”

The schedule adjustment aligns with the conclusion of 2025 Free Winter Weekdays, sponsored by Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC). This initiative allows Illinois residents complimentary access on select weekdays, including Wednesdays on March 5 and March 12. The free admission offer is available every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday until March 14.
