The Chicago Hounds delivered a commanding performance against the New England Free Jacks, winning 36-7 on Sunday. The match took place in Chicago and saw the Hounds' defense limit the Free Jacks to just one try late in the game.
Adriaan Carelse, Chicago's leading point scorer, capitalized on an early penalty from New England, setting the tone with a successful kick from near midfield. Shortly after, Chicago secured a penalty try following a scrum infringement by New England, establishing an early 10-0 lead.
The first half continued with both teams testing each other until Michael Hand II scored his debut try for Chicago. Despite missing the conversion attempt, Chicago led 15-0 at halftime after a strong defensive stand prevented New England from scoring.
In the second half, despite injuries to key players Julian Dominguez and Dylan Fawsitt, Chicago maintained their dominance. An intentional knock-on by New England's Brock Webster resulted in another penalty try for Chicago and a yellow card for Webster. Oliver Devoto then added another score for the Hounds.
Jayson Potroz managed to break through for New England's only try in the 75th minute. However, Noah Brown sealed the victory for Chicago with a final try in the closing minutes of the game.
Chicago will look to continue their momentum next week as they face off against Miami Sharks.
