Later that day, he addressed a more serious matter involving international diplomacy and justice. Quigley joined over one hundred colleagues in seeking answers from key federal departments regarding the detention of Mahmoud Khalil, emphasizing the lack of evidence against him: "I joined 102 colleagues in demanding answers from the Departments of State and Homeland Security regarding the wrongful arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a former Columbia graduate student. In another tweet posted on March 18, Quigley criticized cuts made by the Trump administration affecting critical agencies such as those responsible for nuclear security.
