FOIA Request to Illinois Racing Board Regarding State Agency Contracts with Vendors on March 24, 2025.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in governmental affairs, Chicago City Wire has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Illinois Racing Board. The request seeks detailed documentation concerning the fulfillment of contractual obligations for all contracts executed or modified between this state agency and their vendors during January of the 2023 fiscal year.
Specifically, we are requesting records that verify the scope of work performed, deliverables completed, and any reports or evaluations related to these contracts. Our aim is to ensure that public institutions remain accountable and transparent in their dealings.
In our role as a media organization dedicated to informing the public, we believe access to these records is crucial. We have also requested a fee waiver based on our status as members of the media. Additionally, we are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that aids media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
