Ramirez, known for her legislative work and advocacy, has served in the U.S. Congress since 2023. Her public statements often highlight concerns about civil liberties and government accountability.

In a statement issued on April 1, 2025, Ramirez criticized the revocation of student visas for those engaging in constitutionally protected speech. She emphasized the contradiction in claiming to support freedom of speech while silencing dissenters, stating, "Abruptly and quietly revoking student visas for constitutionally protected speech is what authoritarians do."

On April 2, 2025, Ramirez showed solidarity with Senator Cory Booker, who was protesting actions by noteworthy figures. Ramirez stated, "I raised this sign for @SenBooker yesterday, as he protested the Musk-Trump assaults on working people." She extended her support to others fighting in various arenas including Congress and the courts.

Later the same day, Ramirez addressed errors by the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement concerning a legal resident. She clarified the situation by posting, "Let's get clear on the sequence of events: DHS and ICE violated the due process of a legal resident from Maryland." The resident, Kilmar, had been sent to a mega-prison in El Salvador, which was later admitted as an error, leading to a court order for Kilmar's return to his family.
