Mike Quigley, a long-serving U.S. Congressman representing Illinois's 5th district, has recently voiced his critical views on social media concerning the Trump Administration's policies and their impact on various public sectors. In a tweet dated April 1, 2025, Quigley criticized the Trump Administration's approach towards the Department of Education and public funding for early childhood education. He claimed, "The Trump Administration does not care about your children. The threats to the Department of Education and the recent closures to Head Start offices here in Chicago and across the country only serve to take important funds from families in need to support Trump's golfing habit."

By the afternoon of April 1, 2025, Quigley expressed frustration over the halted legislative process. He tweeted, "I should be doing my job by voting in the House right now, but Speaker Johnson called off votes for the rest of this week. There are legitimate, pressing issues that we need to address. Instead, the Speaker took his ball and went home on a Tuesday because a majority of members" highlighting concerns about procedural disruptions in the legislative chamber.

On April 2, 2025, Quigley championed the city's educational and cultural resources. In his tweet, he noted, "Chicago is home to one of the largest library systems and a wealth of museums - all of which benefit from the work of the Institute of Museum and Library Studies. I joined a letter with 114 of my colleagues calling for the Trump Administration to continue funding this essential" underscoring the importance of federal funding for cultural and educational institutions.
