On April 24, 2025, Sheriff’s Police officers arrested a 17-year-old juvenile following a routine traffic stop near 81st Street and Champlain Avenue in Chicago’s East Chatham neighborhood. The juvenile was reportedly found in possession of a firearm equipped with a laser and an extended magazine loaded with 24 rounds.
Later on April 24th, the Cook County Sheriff's Office announced that they would be joining forces with the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office for an event named Missing Persons Day, scheduled for Saturday, May 10th.
