On May 1st, the Sheriff’s Office tweeted about Mental Health Awareness Month, emphasizing the need to "raise our voices and shatter the stigma around mental health." They stressed that the month serves as "a chance to educate, advocate for better care, and stand with those battling mental illnesses." Later on the same day, they reported an arrest related to retail theft. According to the tweet, "Community Safety Team officers arrested 21-year-old Joshua Jones after responding to a retail theft incident at Macy’s on State Street." On May 2nd, the Cook County Sheriff’s Police informed the public about additional patrols aimed at reducing distracted driving, supported by funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
