American Airlines, in collaboration with the Chicago Department of Aviation and the Consulate General of Italy in Chicago, launched a new flight service connecting Chicago O'Hare International Airport to Naples-Capodichino International Airport. The inaugural event took place on Tuesday evening.
Ben Humphrey, American’s Vice President of ORD Operations, commented on the significance of this new route: “A visit to the port city of Naples has so much to offer — from exploring the ancient ruins of Pompeii to tasting pizza in the city it was created or traveling to the nearby picturesque Amalfi Coast.” He added that connecting Chicagoans to Italy’s third-largest city is a point of pride for American and their ORD-based team members.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson expressed his enthusiasm for this milestone: “I’m proud to welcome Chicago’s first-ever nonstop service to Naples, Italy — a milestone that expands O’Hare’s international network and affirms our city’s status as a leading global gateway.”
The newly established route will operate daily during the summer season. Flights are scheduled to depart from ORD at 8:25 p.m. CT and arrive in Naples at 1 p.m. local time the next day.
Mario Alberto Bartoli, Consul General of Italy in Chicago, highlighted the importance of this new connection: “It is truly an honor as Consul General of Italy to celebrate the launch of American Airlines nonstop service between Chicago and Naples.”
This addition brings Naples into a list of ten daily departures from ORD to eight European destinations. American Airlines customers can now access up to 41 daily flights to 17 countries this summer, with increased capacity from ORD compared to previous years.
The service will be operated using Boeing 787-8 aircraft, featuring Business Class, Premium Economy, and Main Cabin seating options. Passengers can expect modern amenities such as lie-flat seats in Business Class, high-speed Wi-Fi, live TV streaming, and over 1,500 inflight entertainment options.
