The Cook County Sheriff's Office recently shared updates on its activities and achievements via social media. The posts highlight the involvement of their officers and K9 units in community events, as well as law enforcement operations.

On May 18, the Cook County Sheriff's Office tweeted about their Honor Guard presenting the colors at a Chicago White Sox game. The event featured Police Officer Rebecca Cancellare and her K9 partner, Penny, who were recognized as heroes of the game. Since 2019, Officer Cancellare and Penny have been collaborating to respond to explosive detection calls at various public venues.

On May 19, another tweet from the Sheriff's Office described a celebration of diversity at Apollo Elementary School's Multicultural Night. The event included participation from K9s Story and Joey who engaged with attendees by sharing smiles and joy. Officers also distributed badges while the 911 team provided students with important information about emergency calls.

Later that day, the Sheriff's Office reported an arrest made by their Police Organized Crime Division investigators. An 18-year-old named Corion Reed was apprehended following a traffic stop near South Lincoln Highway in Ford Heights. Reed was found in possession of a handgun equipped with an extended magazine loaded with 20 live rounds.
