Chicago Fire FC players Brian Gutiérrez and Andrew Gutman have been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 14. Their recognition follows Chicago's decisive 4-1 win over Charlotte FC on Saturday. This marks the second consecutive week that a Chicago player has made it to the Team of the Matchday, following Rominigue Kouamé’s inclusion in Matchday 12.
Gutiérrez earned his second starting honor this season after scoring two goals, known as a brace, and providing an assist during the match. He assisted Jonathan Bamba’s opening goal in the 40th minute, scored himself in the 60th minute, and added another goal from a penalty kick in the 79th minute.
Gutman played a significant role in securing Chicago's fourth road victory this year. Despite only recording one assist, he was involved in a sequence leading to Philip Zinckernagel’s goal at the 64th minute. Gutman also drew a penalty later converted by Gutiérrez.
This is Gutiérrez's second Team of the Matchday honor this season and eighth overall in his career. His first accolade came after Chicago's season opener against Columbus Crew. Gutman received his first recognition this season during Matchday 4 for his performance against Toronto FC.
