The Cook County Sheriff's Office has recently shared several updates on their community engagement and law enforcement activities through social media. These posts reflect the department's involvement in local events, crime prevention efforts, and partnerships with other organizations.
On June 2, 2025, the Cook County Sheriff's Office announced their participation in a community event at the Chicago Public Library’s North Austin branch. The office expressed enthusiasm for hosting "Game Night" as part of their after-school program initiatives. They stated, "We are so excited to bring Game Night to the Chicago Public Library’s North Austin branch! Our staff had a great time connecting with current (and future!) participants of our after-school program and look forward to holding more events at this location during the summer."
Later that day, another update was provided regarding a law enforcement operation conducted by the Sheriff’s Police Organized Crime Division and Narcotics Unit. On June 2, 2025, they executed a search warrant in Calumet City which led to an arrest. The post detailed that "Investigators with the Sheriff’s Police Organized Crime Division and Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of Clyde Avenue in Calumet City where they arrested 49-year-old Antwain Avery. During the search, investigators recovered five handguns."
In another initiative focused on combating human trafficking, the Sheriff's Office thanked local authorities for their collaboration. On June 3, 2025, they acknowledged support from Lyons Township in addressing this critical issue. Their statement read: "Thank you to the Township of Lyons for joining us in the crucial fight against human trafficking! Sheriff Dart, our Special Victims Division and Victim Support Services are dedicated to raising awareness and empowering our community with the knowledge to identify victims."
