The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) in Chicago has appointed Natasha P. Olguin as the new Deputy Commissioner of the DCASE Chicago Film Office. Commissioner Clinée Hedspeth made the announcement, highlighting Olguin's extensive experience in the film industry.
Olguin, who hails from Chicago's North Lawndale community, will focus on enhancing Chicago's film and media production sector. Her responsibilities include policy development, production support, workforce expansion, and fostering partnerships to create a sustainable media production economy. Commissioner Hedspeth noted, “Natasha is a trailblazer in the industry, and a passionate advocate for community development.”
With over two decades of experience in various roles such as producer, location manager, writer, and director across films, television shows, commercials, and videos, Olguin is well-versed with the city's government and maintains strong ties with film industry stakeholders. Her work includes notable projects like "Heist 88," "Contagion," "The Dark Knight," "Ironheart," "Man of Steel," "Empire," "61st Street," and "The Chi."
Olguin is also known for her entrepreneurial endeavors as producer and CEO of Noisemakers Entertainment. She recently served as CEO of Production Rentals Chicago. Her previous roles included working with major studios such as Warner Bros., Marvel Studios, Paramount Pictures among others.
Additionally, she was president of the BIGG Hearted Foundation which provided educational scholarships. An alumna of the University of Illinois with a degree in speech and communications and a minor in African American studies, Olguin further developed her screenwriting skills through various groups.
