Chicago Fire FC faced a 2-0 defeat against Nashville SC at Soldier Field on Saturday night. The match saw Chicago's record move to 7-6-4, while Nashville improved to 9-4-5.

The first half ended without goals as both teams had opportunities thwarted by effective goalkeeping and the woodwork. Nashville broke the deadlock in the second half when Hany Mukhtar scored from an Andy Najar cross in the 56th minute. The lead was doubled in the 75th minute with Sam Surridge scoring after another assist from Najar.

Despite outshooting Nashville 15-11, Chicago could not find the back of the net. Joe Willis, Nashville's goalkeeper, made eight saves to secure his fifth clean sheet of the season and ninth win for his team.

In other notes, this loss marked Chicago's first shutout since May 3 against Orlando City SC and their first shutout loss at home since last season's finale against Nashville. Omar González started his second consecutive game this season and reached his 268th career start. Jeff Gal also made his third start of the season as Chris Brady is away with the U.S. Men's National Team for the Concacaf Gold Cup.

Several players were unavailable due to injuries or other reasons including Carlos Terán, Sam Rogers, Christopher Cupps, Rominigue Kouamé, Chris Mueller, David Poreba, and Philip Zinckernagel.

The match had several disciplinary actions with yellow cards issued to players from both teams throughout various stages of play.
