Chicago Fire FC has announced the signing of forwards Vitaliy Hlyut and Jason Shokalook to short-term agreements. Both players will be available for today's home match against Nashville SC at Soldier Field, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and locally on WLS 890 AM in English and Que Buena Fire via the Uforia app in Spanish.
Jason Shokalook, aged 22, signed his first short-term contract with Chicago Fire FC before last week's match against D.C. United. He made his Major League Soccer debut during that game, providing an assist in a 7-1 victory. Originally from Pennsylvania, Shokalook has participated in ten matches for Chicago Fire II this season, scoring three goals and assisting twice. He was selected as the No. 35 overall pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft.
Vitaliy Hlyut, aged 17, also signed his first short-term contract ahead of the D.C. United match. He became the first player from the Chicago Fire Academy to sign directly with Chicago Fire II under an MLS NEXT Pro contract in March 2025. This season, he has appeared in ten matches for Chicago Fire II, starting eight times and recording two assists.
This marks the second short-term agreement for both players under MLS rules allowing clubs to sign players from their affiliates to a maximum of four short-term agreements each season.
