The Chicago Hounds have advanced to the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals following a decisive 27-16 victory over Old Glory DC. The match, held on Saturday night, saw Chicago overcome a six-point halftime deficit by scoring 17 unanswered points in the second half.
The game started with the Hounds committing several penalties, allowing DC to take an early lead with Jason Emery's penalty goal in the eighth minute. Despite DC's consistent offensive pressure, they were unable to extend their lead significantly in the first half.
Chicago managed to break through in the 36th minute when Tim Swiel intercepted a pass and set up Peyton Wall for his third try of the season. This effort gave Chicago its first lead at 10-9 after Chris Hilsenbeck successfully converted. However, DC regained control just before halftime with a try and conversion from Emery, putting them ahead 16-10 at the break.
In the second half, Chicago's defense tightened while their offense found momentum. Charlie Abel scored his first try of the season after winning a scrum penalty, followed by Ignacio Peculo's try in the 70th minute. Hilsenbeck was successful with all three conversions and added two penalty goals to secure Chicago’s victory.
The match concluded with Chicago maintaining their defensive strength as time expired. They will face either the New England Free Jacks or Miami Sharks next Sunday at 1 PM CT in the finals.
