The Chicago Sky are set to face the Washington Mystics for the third time this season on Tuesday, July 28, at CareFirst Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. CST. The Sky come into the matchup after a closely contested game against the Indiana Fever, which was among the most highly attended games in WNBA history. Following a five-game losing streak, Chicago will be seeking to break their run of losses with a win over Washington.

In their two previous meetings this season, the Sky lost both games by narrow margins—72-79 on June 17 and 79-81 on July 8. In the first encounter, Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso each recorded double-doubles for Chicago, while Brittney Sykes led Washington with a career-high 32 points. Despite holding a halftime lead after a strong second quarter run, turnovers and poor three-point shooting contributed to Chicago’s defeat.

The second matchup saw another close finish. Shakira Austin secured the win for Washington by drawing a foul in the final seconds. Angel Reese led Chicago with 22 points and 15 rebounds; Elizabeth Williams added a season-high 20 points and seven rebounds. Washington’s bench outscored Chicago’s reserves significantly, helping tip the balance in their favor.

Chicago continues to deal with injuries that have reduced their bench depth. Courtney Vandersloot is out for the season, Ariel Atkins is injured, and Hailey Van Lith along with Michaela Onyenwere are listed as questionable for Tuesday’s game. As a result, starters will need to play extended minutes while bench players like Maddy Westbeld and Elizabeth Williams are expected to contribute more.

Historically, the Mystics hold an overall winning record of 40-37 against the Sky. The upcoming contest is expected to be competitive as Chicago aims to halt its losing streak.
