The City of Chicago has announced that a no wake restriction will be in effect during the Chicago International Boat Show, which is scheduled from August 21 to August 24, 2025. The measure comes in response to anticipated high water traffic related to the event.
According to city officials, the restriction is established under Section 10-40-261(a)(3) of the Municipal Code of Chicago and will apply from Thursday, August 21 at 8:00 a.m. through Monday, August 25 at 12:00 p.m. The affected area includes waters beginning at the north line of the Jardine Water Filtration Plant, extending east to the Chicago Harbor outer breakwater, south along that breakwater to the south line of Navy Pier extended, and then west to the east line of Navy Pier.
“Violators shall be subject to a fine of up to $500,” according to city authorities.
The no wake zone aims to improve safety for both participants and visitors during the boat show by reducing speed and limiting wakes in congested areas.
