Chicago Fire FC lost 4-0 to the Philadelphia Union on Saturday night at Subaru Park. The defeat marks the first time this season that Chicago has been shut out on the road, ending a streak in which they had scored in all 13 of their previous away matches, totaling 33 goals—an all-time high for the club.

Philadelphia took the lead in the 35th minute when Kai Wagner delivered a cross to Tai Baribo, who finished at the near post. Chicago came close to equalizing in the 59th minute when Sergio Oregel Jr.'s shot from outside the box hit the crossbar. Five minutes later, Wagner doubled Philadelphia's lead with a free kick under the wall. Danley Jean Jacques and Milan Ilaski added goals late in the match to secure Philadelphia’s position at the top of the Eastern Conference.

Midfielder André Franco made his Major League Soccer debut for Chicago Fire FC, entering as a substitute in the 69th minute. "Midfielder André Franco made his Major League Soccer debut on Saturday night, coming in for Dje D’Avilla in the 69th minute of the match. The Portuguese midfielder became the 14th player to make his Fire debut and 12th to make his league debut with the Men in Red this season."

Chicago was missing midfielders Rominigue Kouamé and David Poreba due to lower body injuries. Defender Joel Waterman, recently acquired by Chicago, was also unavailable as he awaits his P-1 visa.

The next match for Chicago is scheduled after a week off, when they return home to face New England Revolution on Saturday, September 6 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV and locally through wlsam.com (English) and Que Buena Fire on Uforia App (Spanish). A replay will air Monday, September 8 at 10 p.m. CT on Marquee Sports Network.
