Chicago Fire FC II has announced the loan of forward Claudio Cassano to FC Lugano for the 2025-2026 Swiss Super League season.
Cassano, who is 21 years old, started all 21 matches he played for Chicago Fire II in 2025. He became the first player from Chicago Fire II to record both 10 goals and 10 assists in a single season. His total of 10 assists is currently tied for first place in MLS NEXT Pro with Rafael Mosquera of New York Red Bulls II.
Before joining Chicago Fire II, Cassano spent six years developing in the AS Roma youth system. In August 2023, he transferred to Serie B club AS Cittadella. Cassano made his debut in Serie B on August 26, 2023, playing 32 minutes during a match that ended with a 2-0 victory over Parma. During his time at Cittadella, he appeared in 42 matches, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
