The Cook County Sheriff's Office recently used its official social media account to communicate updates on public safety initiatives, awareness campaigns, and a recent arrest involving a contract employee at the Cook County Jail.

On September 9, 2025, the office promoted its anti-theft program with the message: "The best defense against car theft? A sticker that speaks volumes. Sign up for our Stolen Vehicle Recovery Program and make your vehicle a hard target. https://t.co/Ud62pE4hYw #GPSTracking #SafetyFirst #CCSO https://t.co/u68ftiWVm0".

A day later, on September 10, 2025, the Sheriff's Office marked World Suicide Prevention Day by sharing: "September 10th is recognized as World Suicide Prevention Day. The Cook County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to raising awareness, focusing our efforts to directing treatment to those who need it most, and remembering those affected by suicide. We hope that our actions, no matter https://t.co/gYPcT62aAC".

Later that same day, the department reported an arrest related to contraband at the county jail: "Cook County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested a contract employee who worked at the Cook County Jail kitchen after they found her in possession of gummies laced with suspected THC. Investigators learned that 36-year-old Ashley McCall may be bringing laced gummies into Cook https://t.co/zRWtjqZrvr".

The Stolen Vehicle Recovery Program mentioned in the first post is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies across Illinois to address rising rates of car theft through preventative measures such as GPS tracking and visible deterrent stickers. World Suicide Prevention Day is observed globally each year on September 10 to raise awareness about suicide prevention and support individuals affected by suicide.

Cook County Jail has faced previous incidents involving contraband being brought into its facilities by staff or visitors. Law enforcement agencies routinely conduct investigations and take disciplinary action when illegal substances are discovered among employees or inmates.
