Chicago Fire FC II ended its home schedule for the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro regular season with a 5-2 defeat to Atlanta United 2 on Sunday at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois.
Jason Shokalook scored his league-leading 18th goal of the season for Chicago Fire II, converting a penalty just before halftime. Robert Turdean added his first professional goal in stoppage time, assisted by Trip Fleming. Brody Williams made his debut for Chicago as a substitute in the 75th minute.
Atlanta United 2 took control early when Patrick Weah converted a penalty in the 13th minute. Weah then assisted Gabriel Wessah’s goal in the 32nd minute and added another goal himself ten minutes later, putting Atlanta up 3-0. After Shokalook’s penalty reduced the deficit to two goals before halftime, Atlanta extended its lead with goals from Sal Mazzaferro in the 63rd minute and Arif Kovac in the 85th. Turdean scored Chicago’s second goal late in the match after being set up by Fleming.
Disciplinary actions included yellow cards for Weah (Atlanta), Poreba (Chicago), Shokalook (Chicago), and Neri (Atlanta).
The match statistics showed Chicago taking 13 shots to Atlanta’s 12, with both teams committing 17 fouls each.
Referee duties were handled by Calin Radosav, with Fernando Pina and Jared Kuehl as assistant referees and Ryan Shanklin as fourth official.
Chicago Fire FC II will conclude its regular season with an away game against Columbus Crew 2 on Sunday, October 5 at Lower.com Field. The match is scheduled for noon Central Time and will be streamed live on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV.
